The name Kumpela means a buddy, a person whose company you enjoy and who you can rely on in every situation. And such is the shawl – it can be worn loose or wrapped around, it can be used as a pareo or a warm winter wrap. The shawl is a regular triangle starting at one corner, the pattern is repetitive and it combines lace and garter stitch elements thus giving the shawl lightness and texture.
The size depends on the number of repeats of the pattern. You can also customize the shawl by using different yarns and needle sizes.
Yarn – any ranging from light fingering to sport or even DK.
Needles - any size according to the yarn you use.
Gauge is not crucial and depends on the yarn and needles you choose to knit with.
Supplies - stitch markers, tapestry needle to weave in yarn ends, pins.
