Product Details
This pattern was originally written for DROPS Nepal, but can be used for any squishy aran weight yarn. Many different similar yarns would work equally well. (On 5mm needles the gauge square of 10x10cm should be achieved by 16 stitches and 24 rows.)
I wanted to make a pattern that allows it to be worn in very different ways, depending on mood and the changing weather conditions. The same Lancelotta can be worn like a helmet, covering part of the face, and for a little bit less warmth the lower part can be pulled down under the chin, as well. It can be pulled up and folded into three layers to result in a kind of safari hat. For a more idiosyncratic look, the bottom rim can be folded up and pinned with a shawl or kilt pin on top of the head, which produces to ears. As these variations depend on the fabric holding its shape quite well, this patterns isn't suitable for cotton or linen yarns that are generally too heavy to hold up.

- Notes
- The two buttons are decorative, not functional, and are therefore optional. But it is a good way to show off a couple of nice buttons.
