I was inspired to design this artwork by my Nana and Papa's great love for each other. They survived WWI, coming to America afterward, the Great Depression, and my great Aunt Helen's severe and disabling rheumatoid arthritis. I never heard them fight, and my Nana even washed and ironed his paper money so that he would not be embarrassed in public. Later, when my Papa had passed, my Nana would listen to recordings of old polka music and remember her early romance with Papa at the harvest festivals in their little Austrian colony village in Romania. She did some amazing needlework, and I hope she would be proud of me.
This pattern can be used for needlepoint or cross stitch. I have included easy to follow instructions, a printable pattern, and plenty of encouragement for a beginner or intermediate stitcher. I hope you will have as much fun stitching this design as I did!
