Product Details
This vest started as a project for my husband who absolutely hates to wear wool, but would still like to benefit from it's warmth. He wanted a garment that would never have to touch his bare skin. This reminded me of how terribly the poor creatures have to suffer when they are down with a cold, hence the name: “Man Cold Vest”.
Man Cold is knit from the top down in one piece. The shoulders are shaped with contiguous seams. The neck and armhole ribbing are added after the body has been completed. Even though it is called “Man Cold” this is a unisex pattern, which includes waist shaping for women. Gauge - 20 stitches x 28 rows = 4” (10 cm) in stockinette stitch on size US 7 (4.5 mm) needles (or size needed for gauge).
Achieving both stitch and row gauges are important for this pattern, because the cable patterns are made to line up when you join at the chest.
