One way to enjoy a gradient yarn, especially one with a really long color sequence, is to use it in a pattern that has a naturally varying structure, as in the case of the entrelac border of this shawl. The colors divide themselves into bands that look as if you changed colors for each row of rectangles. Working the entrelac as a border is also the perfect opportunity to try a technique you may have never used before or are only vaguely familiar with.
I also like working triangular shawls from the wide end to the point. You start out with a lot of stitches and as the number gradually decreases, the rows work faster and faster until, all of a sudden, you’re done!
