Product Details
A Shetland lace-edged garter crescent shawl, created with one skein of single ply fingering yarn.
Living in Sydney, yet in love with all things from Shetland, this shawl is my tribute to the beautiful archipelago that lies at the most northerly part of Scotland.
Yarn Approx. 330 (437) yards / 300 (400) metres of fingering weight, 4 ply or sock yarn.
Small size shown (dark blue) in Madelinetosh Eyre Light (60% Merino Wool, 20% Silk, 20% Alpaca; 465 yards / 425 metres per skein), Ink, 1 skein.
Large size shown (lighter blue) in Dingo Dyeworks Ridgy-Didge (85% Merino Wool, 15% Nylon; 437 yards / 400 metres per 100 grams), Bight, 1 skein.
Gauge 17 stitches x 34 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch after blocking.
Construction Notes The shawl is knitted top down, beginning with a garter tab cast on. Rapid increases create a wide shallow curve for the main garter body. A Shetland lace pattern and pretty picot edge complete the shawl. The lace is both charted and fully written out.
