If you're not a 'shawl' person and prefer a little more definition in the shoulder and armhole shaping without sacrificing drape, this cardigan should fit the bill.
The fingering weight yarn means knitting a few more stitches and rows, but the result will be a light and luxurious garment that will take you to many an occasion and transition through many a season.
The front opening of the garment is shaped on the diagonal from the lower edge. The collar, worked in a reversible pattern stitch, is knit as you complete the front sections. The sleeves are set-in, ending at bracelet length.
Choose a yarn that drapes well - something with silk or bamboo would be nice.
