Product Details
Observatory Gate is a wide cabled scarf inspired by an intricate wrought-iron gate in Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens, which marks the way to the old Melbourne Observatory. The scarf’s all-over cable pattern ebbs and flows over a background of reverse stockinette, creating a thick and cosy wrap perfect for winter walks.
**Skills & Techniques:**The Long Tail Cast On (optional) and working 2-over-2 cables.
**Materials Needed:**5 skeins of John Arbon Textiles Yarnadelic Worsted (100% Falklands Corriedale wool; 235yds/215m per 100g skein), or 1,107yds/1,012m of worsted weight yarn. Sample colourway: ‘Black Gold of the Sun’. For a similar effect I recommend choosing a non-superwash wool yarn in a solid or heathered shade.
You will also need a cable needle and a needle for weaving in the ends.
**Finished Measurements:**Relaxed after blocking: 77”/195.5cm length, and 13”/33cm width.
Charts and written instructions are both provided in full.
