Purzelbaum (meaning “somersault” in German) is the ideal solution for gorgeous graduated yarns – fun to knit and beautiful to wear. It’s worked outwards from a central moebius cast-on, so that the colour changes radiate out. The magical moebius half-twist also creates a particularly graceful drape and results in a perfectly reversible cowl.
The moebius cast-on, while easy to work, makes for a fiddly start and the first few rounds may feel awkward. However, it soon gets easier – and that’s the only tricky bit!
If you prefer, it can also be worked with a regular cast-on for a regular, untwisted cowl. Instructions are provided for both options.
Thanks to my tech editor Kate Atherley and my lovely testers.
