Product Details

The Ringwood Sock pattern contains two separate patterns, one to knit the socks from the cuff down, the other to knit them from the toe up. They have a traditional gusset and slip stitch heel. These are designed for beginner sock knitters; a simple construction with a little pattern for interest and texture that works great in solid, semi-solid and variegated yarns. They are knit in one piece in the round on double pointed needles. Full instructions are provided for Kitchener stitching the toe together for the cuff down version and stretchy cast offs for the toe up version.

These socks draw on my Grandmothers ‘signature’ stitch. Whilst not a sock knitter she was a prodigious knitter of mittens and gloves using the local Ringwood stitch pattern. Ringwood is about 20 miles from where I grew up and in Victorian times was the centre of a cottage industry knitting gloves with this stitch pattern.
