Rushmore Hat and Cowl set includes two patterns. First is a slightly slouched hat. Knitting begins at the rolled brim and ends at the crown. Directions are given for a one-color hat. Second is the cowl. It is knit in the round and includes instructions for one or two colors. The stitch pattern for both is stripes of stockinette and reverse stockinette that are gathered with simple pleating to create a complex looking design. Pattern includes a photo tutorial of the pleating method.
MEASUREMENTS Cowl • Circumference 24”/61cm • Height: 8”/20.3 cm • Hat fits average adult head GAUGE 23 stitches/28 rows = 4”/10cm in stockinette stitch unblocked
YARN USED: Madelinetosh Pashmina, but any sport weight yarn will work. • Cowl: 1 skein Mineral (MC) for solid cowl, 1 skein each Vermillion (MC) and Venetian (CC) for two-color cowl. Approximate yardage used is 305 yards for solid cowl; 105 yards MC and 200 yards CC for two-color cowl. • Hat: 1 skein Mineral. Approximate yardage used is 275.
