Product Details

I created this pattern in 2008, but only wrote it up recently. I have knitted dozens of hats in this pattern in many different wools. It is quite easy to knit, although it does contain yarn oversand two different reductions. For the reductions, I use knit 2 together (k2tog) on the leading edge of the leaf and the old fashioned slip knit slip, instead of the more modern slip slip knit (ssk) on the left side of each leaf as ssk leaves a hole and sks does not. While Hayfield's Baby Blossom (chunky and DK) is touted as baby yarns, it is charming when made up into this leaf hat. It is cheerful to knit and adds a spark of brightness to a season whose clothing can be a bit somber.

Notes
One can use stitch markers, but they aren't necessary as the knit stitch at top of each leaf is framed by purl stitches.
