Product Details

This shawl does double duty, either as a lightweight wrap or, looped around your neck a couple of times, a surprisingly warm scarf. Although I really like the drape and swoosh of the Taj Mahal yarn shown, you could work this in virtually any yarn you like. The pattern is very simple, and since it can be worked to any size, gauge doesn't really matter.

This pattern was originally published by the KnitPicks Yarn Company as the “Sweet Scalloped Shawl," and called for 5 balls (550 yards) of KnitPicks Ambrosia yarn (80% Baby Alpaca, 20% Cashmere).

The shawl was done in the now discontinued "fingering" weight Le Fibre Nobili which came in put ups of 187 yds/ball. The Taj Mahal currently on the market is "worsted," and comes 127 yds to the ball. Now, I'm comparing the new yarn to the old shawl right now, and honestly, they look identical to me. But the yardage just isn't the same, so you'll have to either buy more yarn or use larger needles. Sorry about that!
