*Since I have a real liking for nature’s most peculiar, weird, mysterious or misunderstood underdogs I decided to design some of them for anyone who wants to get to know these natural weirdo’s a little better!
The silky anteater is a nocturnal tree dweller from Central and South America. As it resembles a fluffy cotton-like seed pod, it preferably sleeps the day away in a silk-cotton tree, curled up in a ball, hanging from its’ tail. This particular silky anteater hitched a ride to the office in my husbands’ work bag. It has now become a permanent office resident and pops up everywhere: frolicking in plants and hanging from lamp shades or various office appliances.
This silky anteater measures 16 cm from rear end to snout, the tail is 13 cm long. It is an easy to medium project, that requires some round knitting and short rows. Pipe cleaners are used to make the limbs pliable and the tail prehensile.
