Simple Cable Sock Beanie

This Simple Cable Sock Beanie is the result of a customer request to adapt my Simple Cable Beanie for sock weight yarn! It is knit in the round, on one size of circular needles. This would be suitable as a first cable project, given that the cabling pattern is not overly complicated. It is a modern take on a traditional Aran motif, creating a hat which combines simplicity and a touch of difference. The hat pattern comes in 7 sizes: Baby, Toddler, Child, Teen, Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large. Instructions are also given on creating a longer or shorter hat.

Any sock weight/fingering yarn should be suitable for this pattern. 3.5mm needles/US4 are recommended, but there is some leeway given that gauge is not hugely important for this hat, since the ribbing creates a snug, comfortable fit. This is particularly useful for gift knitting, when it can be difficult to get head measurements! The hat is also ideal for using smaller amounts of sock yarn, particularly for the baby size.
