Product Details
South Pole is a hat that features Estonian traditional knitting technique called “vits”. The pattern includes photo tutorial, a full video tutorial from cast-on to finishing and in depth video tutorial about tubular cast-on.
Tubular cast on technique is used for casting on to give professional look as well as a nice stretchy brim. However, you can choose a cast-on technique of your choice. After creating the tubular cast on, the hat is knitted in round. An elastic thread is inserted into the brim to keep the rib nice and stretchy.
YARN The pattern is created for both yarns, SMC Highland Alpaca and DROPS Polaris. I recommend SMC yarn as it is softer and drapes better.
The hat will use up entire two skeins of yarn, so you will need to unravel the swatch (no need to buy expencive yarn for swatch).
