Product Details
A knitting pattern for a Fairisle style, stranded colourwork, slouchy tam / beret, worked in the round. To help the tam keep it’s shape, there is a knitted “fold” built into the pattern. This is “a slouchy beanie with attitude” !
The pattern is for intermediate knitters who are happy with charts. Experience with stranded techniques is useful, but some tips are included.
This is a charted pattern for 4 ply fingering wool, with a single background colour and 4 contrast colours. Yarns brands are suggested options but any 4ply fingering wool with a good twist (for definition) and length of about 170 - 200 yds per 50gms will be suitable. Both sizes need a little over 200 yds background colour, plus up to 50 yds each of 4 other colours.
Two sizes – achieved by using different sized needles: 2.75mm (US2) and 3mm (US 2.5) to fit 55cm, 21.5” head and 3mm (US 2.5) and 3.25mm (US 3) to fit 60cm, 23.5” head.
