Introducing STEPWISE shawl! The first in a series of stepwise patterns, STEPWISE shawl combines the simplicity of Sequence Knitting and the drama of Intarsia colorwork to produce a stunning color-block wrap.
Knit in a simple garter rib, STEPWISE shawl uses a main color (MC) throughout and a contrasting color (CC), which establishes the simple rib pattern. As the wrap grows, the MC continues to be worked throughout, while the the CC is replaced on by vertical stripes in 9 different colors! This new technique is so much fun to work and, as the new colors are added, it is wonderful to watch the graphic blocking develop!
YARN
Approx 1200 yds in MC, 400 yds CC and 100 yds in each of 9 additional colors of fingering weight yarn.
GAUGE 25 sts and 46 rows = 4”/10cm in Sequence Rib (blocked) While exact gauge is not critical, variation in gauge will alter final measurements and yardage used.
