Product Details
This deliciously fun hat is easy to knit if you're comfortable using circular and double pointed needles (or the Magic Loop). The basic stitches are knit and purl, plus increases and decreases. Seven sizes range from 12" Premie to 24" X-L Adult. Separate instructions are provided for smaller and larger sizes.
The hat is worked in one piece from the cake to the cherry, with the exception of the optional outer ridge of whipped cream which is picked up and knit last. A rolled stockinette outer ridge is perfect for all sizes. The larger sizes include an option for a wavy ruffled ridge. (A ruffled ridge can be overwhelming on a baby hat.)
You will need small amounts of 4 colors of 4-ply worsted weight yarn with a gauge between 4-4.25 stitches per 1" (16-17 stitches = 4"/10cm). I used Red Heart Supersaver for the samples because of the wide variety of colors, but any similar yarn will work. It's a good way to use those leftover scrap balls of yarn. Gift tags are included for you to print.
