My patterns are always written without abbreviations, with step by step photos when I think they are necessary, and with explanation of such things as "stockinette stitch". And exactly how to cast off. I don't have cast on information, but you can find that in my Aunt Emi's youtube tutorials, it's called Grandmother's Easy Thumb Cast On, method, and it is easy, and you have already knitted one row by the time you cast on!
