Tarte du yarn

Tarte du yarn (yarn cake) is a pattern for thick socks. They are very useful for anyone working in safety shoes. Of course, they are also super warm winter socks. I like them because they’re quick to finish! I only knit men’s socks in large sizes like this now.

The trick: You knit with 2 strands of sock yarn held together.

This pattern is written for knitting on double-pointed needles. The sizes are European shoe sizes, the lengths are given in centimeters, and the yarn amounts in grams.

sizes: EUR 36/37 - 50/51

Yarn: 4-ply sock yarn held double. You need at least two different colors. It’s nice if you change the color(s) for the heel and toe. You can also knit with your leftovers, which creates great effects.

Amounts needed for EU shoe size: 40/41: 120g; 42/43: 130g, 46/47: 155g.

Needles and tools: Double-pointed needles 2.5mm and 3mm or circular needles of the same size, yarn needle, scissors, 2 stitch markers (optional).
