The pattern uses standard US terms and is suitable for crocheters of an intermediate/advanced level, although I think a confident beginner looking to challenge themselves a little would do just fine.

The shawl in the photos is pictured on me, a 5ft5 female & used approx 500 yards of main colour and 200 contrasting colour #5 yarn in 2 colours.
