The Reste Sweater

The Reste Sweater is a raglan mock-neck sweater design which is knitted seamlessly from the top down. By knitting this sweater you have opportunity to use up scraps or “Reste” (the German term for leftovers) from your yarn collection and create a stylish striped sweater at the same time.

The sweater is knitted in the round using stockinette stitch interspersed with round of purl stitches before and after the stripes. To knit the sweater, firstly stitches are cast on for the collar which is knit in 2x2 rib and folded to create a mock-neck. The yoke is knit in the round and shaped using raglan increases. The sleeves and body are then split and stitches cast on at the underarm. The body is knit in the round and five stripes are created before finishing with a 2x2 rib split hem which is slightly longer at the back than at the front. The sleeves are picked up and knit in the round, decreasing at regular intervals to create tapered shaping and the cuffs are finished with 2x2 ribbing.
