A shoulder hug in alpaca and wool or alpaca and silk, with only one increase round. The easy ebb and flow of this graceful lace stitch is uninterrupted by seams; as steady and comforting to knit as it is to wear. |
The skill of working with lace patterns is to learn how to manipulate the stitch pattern within the shape of the garment. Seams are not ideal, especially for smaller garments, as it spoils the line and flow of the pattern. Hence returning to tubular construction and shaping within the constraints of the shape is most organic, and simpler to work, as the knitter always faces the front of the design. | Being bold enough to work with a very loose gauge is beneficial. What may seem like ‘over-cooked noodles’ on your needles will, after blocking, produce a light and airy fabric, good for trapping air and warmth without bulk.
The concept and inspiration behind the making of these designs came from Belinda's belief in the need to promote and applaud individuality in a world of mass production. Wool was the beginning of these fantastic ideas, the soft possibilities and the warm suitability.
