The Squirrel knitted soft toy

This adorable squirrel has been designed to be easy to knit and suitable for beginners. The pattern is easy to follow with plenty of pictures to help understand the shape of parts, and putting them together.

After a new arrival in our wider family, I was motivated to make a soft toy as a gift. I enjoyed it so much that I made a few more soft toy gifts. I enjoyed this so much that I started designing some myself and after many trials my woodland animals were born. I wanted to create something that allowed a child to use their imagination and so I based the animals on a rectangular shape, and focused on the main characteristics of each animal, such as the squirrel's tail and ears. These animals make a wonderful gift for any newborn, child, loved one, friend or maybe just for yourself!

The finished size of The Squirrel is 24cm tall and requires Sport/DK Light yarn.

Techniques needed include simple increase and decrease, cast on and off and seaming.
