Product Details

The Tidal Bore-Mascaret pullover takes its inspiration from a trad'l Chinese lace pattern, expanded downward to create a dynamic, rippled surface. This energetic pattern reminds me of the Bay of Fundy’s tidal bore ("mascaret") as it rounds the bend of the Petitcodiac River (Moncton, NB).

The Tidal Bore-Mascaret pullover is worked top-down and seamlessly on circular needles. The yoke is separated at the underarms, and the lower body and sleeves are continued separately. The body is separated at the lower border for side slits, with the front and back hems each worked flat. The pattern contains a schematic and sizing table, and a chart for the lace pattern with written instructions for the repeat.

28 sts and 33 rnds to 10 cm/4 in measured over st st using 3¼ mm (US 3.0) needle. Sample pullover worn with 10.5 cm/5 in at chest. Body and sleeve lengths are adjustable.

Skills: joining and working in the rnd, yo increases, reading a lace chart, backward cast-on (at underarm).
