Product Details

This bulky weight ‘Eclipse Cowl’ uses a combination of different sized, right and left leaning cable crosses. The cable stitches come together to form a circular design that I think resembles an eclipse. The cowl is knit in the round and creates a long tube. You will seam both the cast on and bind off edges together at the end. As a result, you end up with a double-layered fabric that is extra squishy and cozy.

I have written this pattern using a provisional cast on and a kitchener stitch for closing the seam at the end. I have included links to video tutorials for both techniques. Along with written instructions for this pattern, I have included a chart to follow as well, depending on your preference.

Materials Needed 292 yards (292g) of bulky weight yarn, US 11 (8.0mm) 16” circular needles, A second pair of 16” circular needles to hold the live stitches at the end (size can be either US 11, 10.5, 10 or 9), Stitch marker, Cable needle, Tapestry needle, Scrap yarn for the cast on
