Product Details

Variegated skeins are so beautiful to look at, but not always easy to work with. Their uniqueness lends to their beauty, but also necessitates alternating skeins to avoid pooling or differences in dyeing. I wanted a shawl that highlighted these skeins; yet allowed for simplicity in the knitting (i.e. no alternating necessary). Thus, I designed Treis; a shawl that consists of two variegated skeins and a contrasting semisolid skein. It is a simple, asymmetric triangle with mostly garter stitch that highlights the “twists and turns” of the yarns’ palette followed by a simple lace section to show off the semisolid.

Yarn: Purple shawl shown in one skein each of Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply in Soul Food, Garden Party and Spiked Punch.

Gray shawl shown in Miss Babs Yummy 2-ply, two skeins in Joan of Arc and one skein in Pewter

Gauge: 24 sts by 52 rows = 4” in Garter St on US 5

Size: Approximately 23” at deepest point by 85” along neckline

Instructions for the lace portion are both written and charted.
