Product Details
These mitts are made using the 400 year old Swedish technique of tvåändsstickning, or twined knitting. I have assumed the reader knows nothing about this technique and have included technique boxes, theory boxes, and numerous photographs to assist the knitter in creating these fingerless mitts.
The mitt is worked circularly on double-pointed needles and includes many techniques: managing your yarns, a twined knitting cast-on, reading and working from a chart, the "O" stitch, Chain Path, Purl Deep Stitch, an asymmetrical thumb gusset, and traditional motifs.
Although classic twined knits are worked in fingering weight Z-plied yarns, any smooth, worsted weight yarn will work, but the yarn must be at least a two-ply. (4-ply is better to show off the texture of the motif!)
