Product Details

William De Morgan’s first kiln was built at his parent’s home in Chelsea, but he soon found that his business outgrew the confines of the house. His friend William Morris had already established a factory in Merton, near Wimbledon, so in 1882 De Morgan moved his business there. At the peak of this period, De Morgan & Co. led around forty employees to man the kilns, paint ceramics and throw pots. This is quite an easy motif to make, and I really enjoyed designing it. Crochet loves to curl and you will find that the corner leaves do so until you add the border. You may find it easier to keep track of this piece by using stitch markers and by pinning it out on a blocking board or thick towel from time to time.
