Product Details
Unalakleet is a stranded shawl worked seamlessly from the top-down. For this shawl, the stranded stitches are worked back and forth (flat, using stranded knitting and stranded purling), and intarsia twists are used to connect the colorwork to the seed stitch edging along each side of the shawl. To facilitate the stranded purling, the purl side rows mirror the colorwork on the knit side. Finally, the transition from the colorwork body to the seed stitch bottom edging creates a slight ruffle for added interest.
Pattern Difficulty: **Intermediate / Advanced.** Pattern uses stranded knitting, stranded purling, intarsia twists, paired increases (knitwise & purlwise), and reading a chart.
Materials Needed
**Yarn**: Approximately 356 - 535 yards (325 – 489 meters) in Main Color (MC) and 277 – 558 yards (253 – 510 meters) in Contrasting Color (CC), depending on length knit. It is recommended that the CC yarn be a self-striping yarn with long stripe sequences.
