The Vīðr beanie is a sumptuously soft beanie, oozing with texture, using a modern twist on a traditional cable stitch. This knitting pattern has been designed with improving / intermediate knitters in mind, and is a mixture of knit and purl stitches including some basic cabling, so is perfect for someone just progressing in their knitting journey or learning to cable knit.
The Vīðr Beanie is worked in the round, which means you will use a circular needle instead of two flat needles. It might seem strange to work in a circle, but it means you don't have to sew anything together at the end, and has a much neater finish! When working in the round it's important not to twist your stitches, and also to make sure you use a stitch marker to note where the start of each round is. It involves some basic cabling techniques which are explained in the abbreviations section.
