Extend summer memories into the cool fall and winter months with this bright and colorful watermelon hat. Or wear it in spring as a reminder of things to come.
This hat can be worn by everyone in the family, from baby to large adult. It's knit in a simple knit and purl pattern on a circular needle. The seeds are applied in duplicate stitch after the knitting and assembly are complete.
The pattern is written for a gauge of 4 stitches = 1" (16 sys = 4"/10 cm). I used Red Heart Supersaver for the samples, though any equivalent worsted weight yarn will work. You will need 1 to 1.8 ounces Red, .6 to 1 ounce Dark Green, .3 to 4.5 ounces Light Green, .3 to .45 ounce White and 6 to 7 yards Black for the seeds.
