Product Details

Winding Road Mitts use a meandering wavy lace pattern, knit as you work, to create a delicate and elegant edging along the top. The bottom portion of the mitt is worked in garter stitch, creating a very stretchy fabric that will expand to fit most hands. Instructions are included for adjusting the size of your mitts.

In working these mitts, you'll use several techniques: a provisional cast on, short rows, lace, and a three needle bind off. But don't let that intimidate you if you're newer to knitting or have never used these techniques. The lace pattern is simple, most of the mitt is garter stitch, and the short rows and three needle bind off are explained in the instructions. BECAUSE the short rows are worked in garter stitch, you can skip the peskier part of the usual short row process, picking up the wraps.

This is a great project for a beginner to learn a few new skills, or for the seasoned knitter to whip up a quick last minute gift.

Notes
Fingering Weight Wool in a solid or semi-solid color works best for showing off the lace, but have fun with gradients or striping yarn if it suits you
