Pull up a loop after completing your 5th double crochet and remove the hook. Count back 5 stitches and place your hook into the double crochet (the 1st double crochet you made in the fan). With your hook still in the first double crochet, go through the loose active loop you removed your hook from.

Once the loop is around your hook you can tighten the loop again. Pull the loop on your hook through the loops of the first double crochet to close and complete the Popcorn stitch.
