The Designer Edit: Joanna Spicer

Tell us, why do you craft?
I really like working with my hands. I fidget a lot and I always have to be doing something with my hands, so I might as well get a blanket or something cute out of it.
How do you express yourself through making?
For me, I don't really like to match. I love mixing a bunch of colors together that make me happy and somehow they manage to work together well.
What's rocking your craft world right now?
I'm obsessed with crocheting blankets. I don't know if it's because I actually love blankets or because I don't know how to crochet anything else, but I really enjoy it. They take a long time and so it feels really rewarding to then be able to cozy up with it on the couch after.
So, what's next on the making-agenda?
Probably ANOTHER blanket, let's be honest.
It's been a strange time! Has quarantine shifted your focus?
In quarantine I haven't been feeling very motivated to do the things that I would normally be doing. I've mainly been focusing on keeping busy and doing things that bring me joy. My mom taught me to crochet when I was young and I've been doing it off and on ever since. It's nice to get back to simpler things as opposed to constant stimulation by electronics. Though I do crochet in front of the tv, but that's necessary!

What I'm making right now
I'm really bad at following patterns, or any instructions for that matter, but I am loosely following this chevron blanket pattern. Colors TBD! I like to just see what happens as I go.
