Product Details
These socks were designed to use Whistlebare's lovely St Cuthbert Sock yarn, which is nylon-free. The yarn is 80% mohair and 20% Wensleydale and it knits to a somewhat looser tension or gauge than most other sock yarn. This is great because you can get a pair of excellent socks more quickly! I have also written the pattern for use with "normal" 4ply/fingering weight sock yarn using tighter gauge and finer needles.
The spiral pattern is worked using slipped stitches and you only ever work with one colour at a time. The sock is knitted in the round starting from the cuff, with a heel flap and gusset. The toes are grafted. Charts and written instructions are included for all five sizes. At the end you will only have four ends to weave in which I consider to be a bonus!
you can comfortably make two pairs of socks from two 100g balls of yarn.
