American knitting terms.
This is a color work pattern for those who don't like to do color work; its easy and doesn't require carrying colors along and tying in dozens of tails. The effect looks like plaid, you can experiment with subtle or dramatic yarn combinations. Two patterns for the price of one - a cute beanie hat and a neck warmer cowl. You can knit the cowl in any size you'd like the pattern is very easy to change. The hat pattern includes instructions for a small to medium hat and a large hat. The hat and cowl are knit in the round, so it is also a good pattern to practice this technique.
