Fariba the Fairy

Dieses Projekt ist für My collection

    Beschreibung

I have been wanting to knit Fariba since I first saw Pat's pattern sometime ago. So here she is. As expected the pattern was simple and easy to follow. I wanted her to be soft and fluffy and that is exactly how she is. In the flesh you can see the pattern on the dress but not so much in the photo. I knitted King Cole ,Cosmos and Rico Lame together for the wings and I have to admit it wasn't the easiest knit, although it did get easier once I got used to handling it. I was glad I did as I love the way the wings have knitted up. I do have these two yarns in gold too so another Fariba will probably appear in the not too distant future.

Hi Michelle. I am feeling much better now, fingers crossed. I only hope we don't have another peak and go back into lockdown. I have been spending lots of time with my Granddaughter and it has made such a huge difference. She says the funniest things and sings all of the time. Just what I needed to lift me out of the doldrums. Hope you are well and keeping safe.

Hi Denise, I just saw your reply to Dianne. Sorry to hear you’d been a bit down in the dumps with lockdown but it sounds like you’re on the up again, hope that’s the case. Strange times indeed but with all the lovely chats and banter on here we’ll get through this together. Look forward to seeing more of your gorgeous knits soon. Take care.

Hi Liz. I am feeling so much better now. I didn't realise how down I was until I started to get back to my normal self. Seeing my Granddaughter and spending lots of time with her has made a big difference. It feels like everything is getting back to normal even though we have a way to go yet. I picked up my needles last night and it felt really good to be knitting again. It has started me off thinking about other projects and what yarns and colours to use. So fingers crossed!

Hi Dianne. I am fine now. I thought I was coping with lock down and then everything got to me and I lost all interest in everything and was struggling to cope with being stuck at home day after day. Fortunately, over the last few weeks, I have been out and about with my granddaughter and my son and his partner and it has done me the world of good. I had just brought my knitting bag downstairs to do some knitting and I saw that I had some notifications and I decided to read them before I started knitting! Hope you are well and enjoying a bit more freedom with the relaxation of restrictions.

Goodmorning Denise I was reading what Dianne said to you about watching something on tv. I have been doing the same thing I have started watching a light series called Heartland and the Good Witch, it has made such a difference as instead of sitting knitting and thinking I am sitting knitting and watching something light and relaxing.I hope you are enjoying your lovely weather too.😊😊❤❤

Thanks Dianne. I love her. When the sun shines on her her hair sparkles and so do her wings. She will not be going anywhere and she will certainly be taking pride of place on the mantlepiece at Christmas lol. The yarns were quite expensive and there was quite a lot of effort needed for assembly so I wouldn't be too keen to take orders as it wouldn't be worth my while. I will probably make one or two as a gift for family.

@Denise C: Glad you are keeping her. 😄 Was her hair tricky to do? I should really have another go at hair, I have a bit of a mental block! 😂 I know what you mean about orders, I don’t think people realise the amount of time and effort that goes into it! I’m still knitting my gnome, things were going well till her nose, for some reason I couldn’t get the right number of stitches and now I think I’ve made a hole! I’ll try again tomorrow! 🤣

@Dianne S: I always struggle with the nose. I made 5 attempts on my last one before I got it right! The hair is not hard. It's just a wig then a few lengths looped through either side at the front, then more lengths looped through in one spot at the top. Then it is gathered up into a pony tail and fastened. It's not difficult.

@Michelle M: I debated about putting a roller in Fabrina and decided not too as she was sitting up nicely on her own. Then I put her wings on and that was it - flat on her back! I can't get her to sit on her own I have to lean her against something. It must be the weight of her wings!

@Denise C: Ohh I just looked at the wings and they are quite big and she only has a wee body, the wings are amazing so you couldn't really change them and she looks gorgeous sitting on the window sill.😊 Do you think if you made another one if it was for an ornament you could add pellets to her body to give her more weight.😊😊I was thinking of your Fariba last night you know what I was thinking, a white one with silver wings for Christmas, just a thought. She is fantastic Denise and you must be so proud of her.😊😊❤

@Michelle M: I will definitely be using something to keep her upright. I use only the bendy roller for my Raggedy Annabelle doll and that works well so I think a bendy roller will do it. I'll make sure it works before I do the sewing up!

@Denise C: I have never used those rollers but have just brought some as Dianne reminded me that you use them.😊😊I like Beata's idea too of putting a wee pocket on her dress and making it a tooth fairy, see all the different things people come up with.😊😊So now back to your gnome have you decided on what colours to use for this wee one.

@Michelle M: I think King Cole Embrace in white would be lovely for her dress then she would be all white and fluffy and it would look lovely with silver wings. I will probably get around to this colour scheme! I am waiting for some dark red wool to arrive as I want to use the gold lame for the wings. I was thinking of adding the gold cosmos to the top layer of the skirt too. It is harder to match the gold with colours than the silver but as usual I got carried away when ordering and couldn't resist getting both. Lockdown is the perfect excuse for adding more yarn to my stash lol.

@Denise C: Thanks Denise, I did manage the nose without any bother the next day, what a difference not watching tv at the same time made! 😂 I’ve finished all the knitting now, it’s just the sewing up but it’s such lovely weather here 🌞 for a change, I feel guilty! I’m worried that the autumn colours I have used are going to add up to a very drab gnome but time will tell! Seeing your Blossom has made me wish I’d picked nicer colours!

@Dianne S: I'm sure it will be lovely. I knit a gnome with autumnal colours and I love her. The colours look dark for this time of year but when Autumn and Winter arrive she will look just right. I sat in the garden today it was too nice to stay indoors, although I did make 3 face masks for my sister and my 2 nephews this morning.

@Michelle M: You certainly weren't rude Michelle. I would like to use those colours as they would be traditional Christmas colours. Saying that I like to experiment and do something different. The red and gold might not work but I will give it a try!
