    Beschreibung

    We have 3 wee hedgehogs which visit our garden regularly - Harley, Hedley and Hop-a-long (he has a bad rear leg, but gets about OK)
    My partner George sets up his wildlife cameras in the garden so we can see and enjoy their antics overnight - it's surprising how fast they get about. So I thought I'd make a wee hedgehog for George's menagerie. He has several other crocheted and knitted animals I've made. The pattern has a Christmas tree hat and scarf but George didn't want those so I didn't make them. He was an easy enough make, but the spikes (more like curls due to their construction) took forever to do.

      Lovely to hear you have hedgehogs, Liz. Heard the numbers are rising
      slowly . My son saw one in his garden this week. Can't remember the last time I saw one. Love your crocheted Harley , beautifully made. Perfect for George ❤️ 💕😊🤗💕

      What a lovely story Liz. ❤️ We have tried to entice hedgehogs into the garden but no luck so far. Perhaps we have too many dogs and cats nearby? Harley is a super little fellow. I love his boots and mitts. And I sympathise about the prickles. I would love to make a hedgehog but they really put me off.

        Thanks Helen. I enjoyed making him, if it wasn't for the time the prickles take I'd make it again, they're not difficult, just very time consuming .Our neighbours cats and the hedgehogs just ignore each other now. The cats went to sniff at them and when they encounter the prickles they learn to stay away. Hopefully you'll get some in your garden one day.🥰

        Thanks Julie, George thinks he is cute too. It's fun watching them. We have a large, clear upturned plastic crate where George puts a dish of dried cat food in for them. You can see when they go in for a feed, so if one is inside and another turns up they puff themselves up and make their spikes stand on end, so they look huge. Sometimes there is a wee scuffle before one gives up. The crate is needed as otherwise the neighbours cats eat the food😂😂, so the entrance is just big enough for the hedgehogs, although there is one cat, Eva who manages to slink in sometimes - it's hilarious to watch her.

      Ohh he is sooo cute Liz, look at wee Harley sitting in the tulips, I hope he doesn't scare the real ones.lol.😂😂I love his wee red boots and mittens and I agree with George he doesn't need a Xmas hat. Now Liz you say there are 3 hedgehogs in your garden and you have made Harley so does that mean you are going to make Hedley and Hop-a-long as well.😉😉😂😂💓💓

        @Liz M: maybe you could make a wee Buddha and put him in your garden, I know you love them.😉😉😂there are sooo many amazing amigurimu patterns, I look at them and go Liz could make that, and that and that.lol.😊😊💓💓

        Thanks Linzi, yes, it's fun watching what they get up to. They don't particularly like being together, so sometimes you see them doing what's called a "ram and roll" as one rolls up into a ball and the other shoves them about to try and dissuade them from being there. 🥰
