    Beschreibung

(Update) - with support and encouragement from this lovely knitting community I have completed my little Noah cardigan thank you for all your helpful comments and suggestions. It was a very important little project to me as reasons below. The buttons were an unintentional splash of colour they fell out of button bag đŸ˜đŸ„°
My friend gave me a bag of yarn that belonged to her close relation who had sadly died. At the time I didn’t know quite what I was going to do with the yarn. I made a small dishcloth with a little bit of the yarn and gave it to my friend. Then after joining this community and picking up my needles more chose to try to knit a little Noah jacket with idea of giving it to my friend to give to someone in her family. I started project but think the stitches look uneven was wondering whether it’s the needles, size 4mm my tension the dk yarn that I have washed or something else. It feels sort of flimsy. Or wrong yarn for project. Or it’s ok and look better when complete?

Thank you Jean you really helped me to finish. It was a great learning curve in yarn textures I had 2 projects on the go at the time, this one I thought being the easier - dk and this pattern always looks good - the other I had ventured into 4 ply territory baby cardigan - well as you know I hadn’t considered the dk yarn texture đŸ€“ and now thank you I have learned much more than I set out to do and confirm Noah’s always look good đŸ˜đŸ„°

Thank you Elaine you really helped me complete this little cardigan. I think your explanation about the texture was spot on, once I appreciated this I was able to allow for its behaviour on my needles.đŸ§¶đŸ„°

It's lovely Maria, and will look good when completed I'm sure. Garter stitch projects can be the bane of my life as I love them, but also worry that they don't come out so neatly. (Aren't we knitters such perfectionists hey) As ever the generous and wonderful knitters of this community have offered invaluable pearls of advice, which I've learnt from. I've made this cardi' a number of times, it was the first design I ever attempted 8 years ago, every one has worked out â˜ș

Thanks Mary I’m almost finished just gosh to sew up and add buttons. It’s sort of been a project where I thought I could control each step but it’s been leading me 😜 even the buttons I was going to use toned down buttons - where the cardigan has indicated it wants playful ones and not be so safe with my choice đŸ€Ș but I am growing to like it, and as all yours have worked out as have many of our friends there’s room for another hopefully đŸ„°

I think it’s the texture of the yarn to have a knobbly effect and will look fine when it’s finished. I often find that pure garter stitch sometimes dosen’t look quite as even as stocking stitch in a lot of yarns. Also if the yarn is a bit in the thin side. I have made this pattern many times in different yarns and have sometimes used a 3.75 mm. (May result in slightly smaller finished cardie) A cold rince and blocking when finished should also help to even out the stitches. Think you will have a lovely textured little Noah cardi once it’s finished, look forward to seeing it đŸ˜ŠđŸ§¶

Thank you Jean this has all been very helpful information and I’ve now half completed a front I keep saying to it “you are going to go to the ball” 😜I can’t believe I had never knitted any just garter stitch cardi before but am learning lots. When I started knitting đŸ§¶ as a child I think I threw myself in deep end without considering impact certain things have on each other but now it’s fun working out these little conundrums not sure if it’s older and wiser!!! đŸ˜đŸ„°

@Maria L: Yes It’s a definitely learning curve !! and with So many different yarns etc out there now, can be very complicated !!
Though I’m sure you are getting wiser all the time. 😂.
It’s a great little pattern always seems to turn out well 😊xx

It looks lovely Maria. I have nothing to add to the advice of the other knitters. It may not be the exact size quoted for this pattern, but will still be fine. Babies come in all shapes and sizes. đŸ„°đŸ„°

It’s beautiful Maria, but as Cheryl has said, I think it’s the yarn as boucle yarn is sort of bumpy, I’m sure it would be lovely when finished

Thank you Elaine that is kind of you to say đŸ„° I am trying to improve my skills and boucle was mentioned on someone’s post relating to toy making. I have been thinking how textures play a role and perhaps this is the case here. So I’m going to roll with it 😜 with you and Cheryl’s encourage đŸ„° I’ll post pics hopefully when complete 😇

Looks ok to ne. I think it's just that kind of yarn. It looks like a boucle yarn, which doesn't knit up very neat in garter stitch

Thank you for your thoughts. Yes boucle type yarn fancy me picking this yarn as a first garter stitch cardigan. I’ll try to complete it. It has a lightness about it perhaps this will carry it over line for me in end thanks again Cheryl 😍
