This is hat # 3 from my How Many Hats? project, to see how many hats I could make from the one skein of Eco+ that my mother gave me. It is the color 8821, or Peacock, and that color is discontinued, the Sapphire color is the closest. It took 85 g, the most of any of the one-color hats. I cast on 88 stitches and knit in the round for 9", then decreased according to a standard hat decrease, every other row, k2 tog k until marker placed every 8 st and rep across row. The marker goes from 8 to 7 to 6 etc. stitches between, until there are 11 stitches left, cut yarn and thread it through rem. stitches, and you have a hat. Mistake rib is a 2x2 rib that is offset by one every other row, so you have one knit column and one purl column surrounded by seed stitch. It made the hat wider and less stretchy than the 2x2 ribbed hat, and it took more yarn to make the 9" length, because the seed stitch compresses it a little lengthwise. Next time I'd CO 80 st and end up with 10 to tie off.
