This garter stitch shawl or wrap with ruched edging was inspired by the coffin lined cape or shroud worn by Lily Munster in the 60's American television sitcom The Munsters.
The piece is worked upwards from the bottom and is fully customizable. You can add as many rows of ruched "coffin lining" to the bottom as you wish while shortening the garter stitch portion at the top if you prefer. You can also make the wrap as tall as you like to more closely resemble the actual cape worn by Lily but please note that you will need to purchase more yarn if you do.
Two skeins of Swanky by Nerd Girl Yarns (about 870 yards) in the colorway Abnegation was used to make this shawl which measures about 60" by 15". Swanky is incredibly luxurious and has a nice sheen plus fantastic drape that suits this project perfectly.
