Produktdetails
I often lose my head and buy yarn with beautiful colour mixes, only to be stumped when I then try to work out what to knit with them. This pattern was inspired by two such purchases. One was a slightly slubby, gradient silk blend fingering yarn, the other was a busy multicoloured wool/bamboo blend sport weight yarn. I wanted a shawl pattern that was suitable to show off both yarns but not dominate or be lost in the beautiful colour changes. Both end products feature in the written pattern.
The result is a light and airy wrap that uses short rows to create the illusion of four separate wedges, when in fact there is no sewing required at all. The changes in direction of the knitting are emphasised by textural lateral braids. The simple lines and texture of the wrap make it suitable for solid, gradient or multicoloured yarn.
The direction of knitting is explained in a diagram. This is a novel way to make a shawl. It starts similar to a Faroese shawl, but goes its own way after that.
