Amici cowl is a cable & lace cowl which is easy to memorize and looks more complicated than is.
Yarn: 1 skein SnailYarn BFL/Masham DK (Bluefaced Leicester/Masham British wool, 100 gr-262yds/240m). Sample shown in color: natural, approx. 131yds/120m.
Or any DK weight yarn, approx. 131-175yds (120-160m) for example Baa Ram Ewe Dovestone DK. For an additional pompom you need approx. 47yds/43m.
Materials: US 6 (4.0 mm) and US 7 (4.5 mm) 16” (40 cm) circular needle or 32” (80 cm) for magic loop and/or dpns.
Or size to obtain gauge. Stitch markers, cable needle, tapestry needle.
Gauge: One cable pattern repeat (28 stitches x 12 rounds), blocked = 4.25” x 1.38” (10.75 x 3.5 cm).
Finished dimensions: Unstretched 17.3” (44 cm), fits approx. 20.5-22.5” (52-57 cm) circumference x 7.6“ (21 cm) height, from crown to CO.
Adjustments: Different sizes and fits can be achieved by altering brim height, yarn weight and/or needle size(s).
