Gauge does not matter; you can use any yarn you like. Finer weights will make it smaller, bulkier weights will make it bigger. You can easily make it smaller or bigger, longer or shorter (wrote in the pattern). Making it all the same color, alternate two colors … it’s up to you! You can decorate it with ribbon, flower, bead, button, etc.
