Beginner’s Easy PDF Knitting Pattern – New Baby Hat and Boots

What better to keep out the winter chills than this cute little new baby set, knitted in garter stitch (knit stitch), the hat uses very few techniques. A bit of casting on, a bit of knitting, a bit of decreasing, and voila! A hat is born. It’s knitted on two needles, and sewn up at the end. No circular needles required. The booties use a few more techniques, including:

Cast on

Knit stitch

Increase

Decrease

Cast off

This really is a great pattern for new knitters because it only uses basic knitting techniques, so if you can cast on, and knit, pick up those needles, and get cracking! Once you’ve done a couple of increases, you’ll be away. And if you get stuck?

To knit the hat and boots as in the main photo, you’ll need 2 x 50g Balls of Aran weight yarn. We used DROPS Alaska, but you can used any comparable yarn, i.e. GGH Samson, or Cascade 220.
