Birthday cake

This is a PDF crochet pattern, written in US terminology. When made with the stated yarn weight and hook size, the finished cake will be approx 11cm tall and the candles add 7cm in height. The big tier is 15cm in diameter.

You will need to know the following crochet terms:

ch- chain

mr- magic ring

sl st- slip stitch

sc- single crochet

inc- increase

invdec- invisible decrease

BLO- back loops only

FLO- front loops only

hdc- half double crochet

dc- double crochet

tr- treble crochet

Materials needed: ● 100g ball of chunky yarn (UK-chunky, US- bulky, AUS- 12 ply)- I used Hayfield Bonus Chunky in Lavender and Iced pink ● DK yarn- I used Hayfield bonus DK in White, Iced pink, Mauve marl, Amethyst and Primrose ● 5mm hook for the chunky yarn ● 3mm hook for the DK yarn ● Yarn needle that’s big enough for the chunky yarn, and another suitably sized needle for the DK yarn ● Stitch marker ● Stuffing ● Scissors ● Pins to hold pieces in place when sewing ● Wooden cocktail sticks to put inside candles
