Cats On A Fence Hat

My friend Sally from South County Cats asked me to design a hat for their annual auction, CAToberfest. The results features 6 colorful cats – black, white, Siamese, calico, plus grey & orange tabbys – sitting silently on a circular fence gazing off into the distance. It’s a unique whimsical accesory sure to bring a smile to the face of any cat lover.

The hat is a simple stockinette watch cap with a 2/2 ribbed border. The cats are done in duplicate stitch, & the pattern assumes a knowledge of this technique. The tails are i-cords. You can embroider all of the color cats, use just one or two colors, or even design one based on your own kitty. Individual charts are provided for all. Gift tags are also included for you to print.

The samples are done entirely in Red Heart Supersaver, though any similar yarn will work. It’s a great time to raid your stash for small amounts of worsted weights for the embroidery. The finished hat circumferences measure 20" to 21" & will fit 21" to 23" heads.
