You can use wool, acrylic, cotton, blends, the choice is yours! Typically, if using acrylic yarns, you will need less, as it is a lot lighter.  knitting needles 3.5 mm and 4 mm or US 4 and US 6  4(4,4,5,5,5) buttons,16 mm or (1/2")  darning needle Tension/ Gauge: 22 st and 30 rows make 10 cm or 4" square, using 4 mm (US 6) needles and stockinette st.
